What is CASA?

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate

CASA represents abused and/or neglected children who

have been removed from their homes due to neglect or abuse.

15 Years Aiding Abused Children

March 12, 2008 marked CASA for the Highland Lakes Area 15 Year Anniversary.

CASA of Burnet County was formed March 12, 1993.  One county, one case and one volunteer whose voice made a positive difference in lives of 2 small children who had been removed from their home due to abuse and neglect.  Judges, CPS workers and medical and mental health professionals recognized CASA's worthiness and value.  Texas law now mandates that every child removed from their home by the state be appointed a Guardian ad Litem.

Hundreds of children were in need locally.  CASA volunteers filled the void.  CASA volunteers have aided in the judicial process; saving taxpayers thousands, improving placement rates and decreasing the time children's lives were in limbo.

Today, CASA of the Highland Lakes Area, Inc. proudly serves five counties:  Blanco, Burnet, Lampasas, Llano and San Saba.  CASA has aided over 1300 abused and neglected children.

We thank our supporters for helping us make a difference one child at a time.
